Game 5 - Nuances of the First Sector

The Jedi Council is now in session. A droid activates from across the room and displays a holographic message for all to see:

Three weeks ago, a body was discovered in the depths of the ruins of Coruscant in the 8th sector. This body was identified as Terry Wofi. As some of you are sure to know, Terry Wofi was one of your own. He was a kind Jedi who embodied the soul of your order. He also harbored an unhealthy obsession with study of the previously thought long-dead cult of the Sith. His wounds were found to be cauterized on contact: he died to a lightsaber.
As the members of this council suspect, only one of you could have been the assassin. With our control over the knowledge of the construction of lightsabers and sentries posted on all access points on the planet, it's nearly impossible for an outsider to penetrate unnoticed. Due to the nature of his studies, it is evident that the Sith are at large once again. With the Sith thirst for power, the most natural place to grow in strength is right here, among the Jedi. One of you is a traitor to the Order and the Republic. You must discover him, her, or...them. Any Sith Lord will search for an ally. For an apprentice. No one is permitted to leave the First Sector until the threat has been removed.
Signed,
Chancellor Patrick Hudson

Changes
Only 3 Sith in total this game due to having 18 players. Kill 3, and it is a Jedi Victory.
/Changes

Jedi Roles:

Jedi Council Member: You have the power to vote to kill other members on the Jedi Council, if you fear they have been swayed to the Dark Side of the
Force. [For Light's sake, you can call it "arresting" a member and they are banished or permanently shamed. For the sake of this exercise, I will use the verb 'kill,' though you can choose to view it as a less extreme action if you like.]

The Speaker : All Jedi are extremely sensitive to the nature of the people around them. You have perfected this perception. You can see the true
nature of any person, including any special abilities they have. However, this true vision is impossible to direct. Each day a random player's soul and special abilities will be revealed to you. This ability is only necessarily accurate for
that day. [Read later.] Your vote counts as two votes. Be careful, the Sith can count votes, too.

The Chosen One: Much depends upon you. [Think of a cross between Mace Windu and Luke Skywalker.] You have the ability to kill one player per day. Choose wrong, and you will further the purpose of the Sith... perhaps throwing us all into endless night. Your true character WILL be known by the end of this game.

Holocubes: These will be randomly distributed among the Jedi Council Members. The Sith will not receive these at start. You will be permitted to target a single person and hold surveillance on them. This surveillance will last throughout the game and the connection is permanent. It will provide you with any secret action they take.

Escape Pod: You have an escape pod mounted quite ingeniously in your bedchamber. It is only able to be used once, but will protect you from any
Sith attack that day.

Ear of the Chancellor: This ability is only able to be used once. With the Chancellor's connections, you are able to hire independent assassins to kill a target of your choice.

The Sith

Sith Lord - You are the essence of greed, hate, and anger. The Jedi Council deserves only extermination. With your guidance, you can save the Republic from this power-mongering "order" and finally bring lasting peace. Since you usually leave the actually killing to your apprentice, this frees you to concentrate on manipulation of politics within the Jedi Council. Your vote counts twice for the first three days of play.

--Abilities
----Force Lightning: You may only use this ability once, in the most desperate moment of your life. This ability will automatically be activated in certain encounters. If used defensively, the results are quite unreliable and could end in your death or your adversary's death. If you direct this attack, success is quite certain.
----Command: This is a passive ability, but must be known to you. The Sith only receive one kill ability per day [aside from the Lord's Force Lightning]. If you vote to kill a player and your apprentice votes to kill a separate player, it will be treated as a Command, and the Sith Lord's target will be killed. Beware, the more you Command your apprentice, the more likely your
apprentice will succeed in killing you if and when they rise up to Challenge the master. Only the Sith Apprentice and the narrator will be aware when an ability is a Command.
----Sway: If your apprentice dies, you must choose another player to become your apprentice. Send the narrator a message, and he will inform you
whether your target accepts or rejects your offer of Sith training. I will process this request as fast as possible, you should assume it takes one day to attain an apprentice, although it could take longer [at which point I would consider multiple offers to keep the pace going]. Yes, you may offer to the Chosen One and the Speaker.

Sith Apprentice - You have been trained or swayed to the Dark Side of the Force. You feel your power growing every day within. You are the edge of the blade of the Sith Lord's will. His commands anger you over time, inevitably making you stronger for the day should you confront your master.

-- Kill. The Sith's targets are physically executed by your hand, by your strength, and by your skill.
-- Challenge. You may choose to challenge your Master in a fight to the death. The more commands you have been given, the more likely your success. You will be informed if your Master has used his Force Lightning ability, and this will also increase your likelihood of success. However, success is never assured. This ability will always have at least a 10% chance of failure.
--If you confront the Chosen One, your attack will fail. Your identity will not be revealed. The attack will be made known to all. It takes a combined attack of Force Lightning and Sith convential attack to kill the Chosen One. The opportunity for treachery against your Master in this circumstance is quite profound.
--Succession. A passive ability, if your Master dies you become the new Sith Lord, able to choose an apprentice immediately.

General Game Rules
1. Rule of Two. Only two Sith may coexist at a time. I will place an artificial barrier on the continuation of the Sith, limited to 3 Sith total in a game. Consider it the limit on the potentially immoral population in the Jedi Council.
2. When you die, you cease to post. No exceptions, please. If you wish to leave a message of some sort, send it to me, and I would be more than pleased to narrate it into the story.
3. You must participate :-D. Especially if you possess a key role. If you wish to remain silent, just send me a message that you are indeed paying attention, but wish to keep quiet.
4. If someone is inactive or voluntarily chooses to ruin our experience, I will do what I can to save it.

Victory Conditions.
Jedi Council Victory
It can only be attained by the destruction of the Sith. This can be done in one of two ways: 1)synchronized elimination of the Sith Lord and the Sith Apprentice on the same day, 2) Killing 3 Sith, total.

Sith Victory
Can only be attained by destruction of the Jedi. Victory is assured if the number of Jedi matches the number of Sith. Yes, the Force Lightning ability and the conventional Sith attack can be used on the same day. Meaning, if there
are 8 players left, the game could possibly end by that night. [Chosen One kills a Jedi, Vote kills a Jedi, Force Lightning kills a Jedi, Sith attack kills a Jedi]
P.S. Any proper Sith will realize that true victory can only be attained by being the last person in power in the galaxy...the Sith Lord. Consider it a victory condition within a victory
condition.

GOOD LUCK!

That's the thing... Any one of us who was indeed sincere before, could now have been turned to the Dark Side. But we must not let our fear guide us, or we will suspect everyone.

Of course, we never thought things would come to this, where we cannot trust even our own brethren, but it has. We now have to defend ourselves from the darkness both within and without... or die trying.

Duran, your words betray you. You speak so freely of turning to the dark, I am fairly confident you have turned yourself! There is only so long you can hide behind words, while holding a knife to our throat in the shadows!
I vote to kill Darth DURAN

Wow, say some more, Duran! You seem to be digging yourself deeper with your feeble pleas for life and revealing your true colours!

SquirrelsOfWar you are misunderstanding I am the character that everyone thinks is the bad guy but is in fact a really crazy person that tries to be good. Like in the first Harry Potter movie when the guy with a black robe is like the bad guy thought the whole movie but in the end you'll see that he is a goodie goodie just like me. I know I might be a little suspicious and all but I want to help everyone plz cant you feel pity for me a crazy goodie goodie that tries his best??

As a final statement before I go to bed is this; "I swear at my honor as a marshmellow eating Jedi I counselor Duran is not a Sith I will as a true Jedi would do honor the code of the Jedi to the end." And if you still doubt me SquirrelsOfWar why dont we have a duel and see who wins because we all know that the good always win in the end if I then would be a Sith I would die in this duel. SquirrelsOfWar if you have the courage of a true Jedi then challenge me!!! I vote to kill SquirrelsOfWar

Don't worry I'm not offended. :] I'm still up in the air as to who to vote for. I'm going to review past conversations and try to figure something out. Duran seems almost too outspoken to be a sith. I pity you, too.

OK I just looked and I couldn't find a single post by JoeH, hopefully I didn't miss any. Either way, his lack of posting and helping us Jedi's is reason enough to be killed. That in itself is betrayal.
I vote to kill JoeH

And hey-- my scar isn't THAT bad! And sometimes even good people are ugly, too! Take the fantastic four for example, "the thing" is pretty hideous but he is a hero. (sorry I'm watching that movie right now)

*WarWhore steps forward*

I know the hour is growing late, but I would hope that you each retract your vote to kill JoeH.

*WarWhore turns to face JoeH*

I know you have been quiet, JoeH. I don't really know why you haven't said much in our meetings, but I must apologize to you. I used a holocube to monitor you, JoeH, from the very first day. I didn't suspect you... but, I thought it would be better for me to begin investigating one person from the very beginning and keep track of all their secret actions. I'm sorry, JoeH, I have been invading your privacy.

*WarWhore turns to the others*

While JoeH has said little-to-nothing in our councils... he is innocent. In fact, JoeH lives a very boring life for a Jedi. I plead with each of you to retract your votes to kill/arrest JoeH and turn your votes to another.

I vote to kill Darth Duran.

Thank you Master Warhorse, I really appreciate you coming forward like that. I also retract my vote for joeh.

Duran has said more then enough to cause a strong suspicion.

I vote to kill Duran.

The bodies of several puppies and kitties were found in Duran's trash by waste disposal personnel. The poor creatures had been petted to death!

In light of new evidence, I retract my vote to outcast JoeH and vote to kill Darth Duran.

Can WarWhore be trusted though? I guess we'll find out eventually.
