Tabula Blogger 15/05/08 - Deployment 8.4 on PTS

Good to see these changes on the test server, Critters recently announced on PlanetTR that the devs have realised that Snipers were favouring the Shredder Ammo/Chain Gun Build over a Torque Shell Rifle Build and acknowledging this as a choice. The however wanted it to remain, but also for people to have a reason to pump the Shredder Ammo on the TSR.

Another example of a recent playerbase movement being observed by the Devs and worked with.

New Changes in Deployment 8.4

Shredder Ammo will now be a timed effect with higher ranks increasing how often it will occur.
Rank 1 - buff will proc every 6 seconds
Rank 2 - buff will proc every 3 seconds
Rank 3 - buff will proc every 2 seconds
Rank 4 - buff will proc every 1.5 seconds
Rank 5 - buff will proc every 1 second

Bug Fixes

Maps and Missions

Players can now target and attack the Warnet Nest at the beginning of the map in Minos Cavern.

Overseer Urm will now spawn correctly in the mission "Friendly Wager" on Palisades,

The mission "Missing Persons: Samantha" will now be assigned correctly upon moral choice in the "Brutal" mission.

Added class requirements to the Flashpoint mission rewards in Palisades.

Classes and Combat

Shedder Ammo no longer works with melee weapons (only weapons with ammunition).

Boxing Gloves no longer have a red overlay when in your weapon tray.

Boxing Gloves now offer stun/knockback effects when used with Pump 3 or higher in Hand to Hand Combat.

The Boxing Gear Color Change Kit is now sorted under "Consumables" instead of under "Miscellaneous" with other dyes.

Fixed an issue that caused Polymorphed characters to not work correctly when zoning.

Updated Bio Body Armor Tooltip. It previously indicated that you should receive a 1% health regen increase per peice worn for a possible 25% for 5 pieces at pump 5, however, you actually have 50% health regen.

Interactions

Fixed an issue where the target information does not update correctly for other players if Sticky Targeting Delay is not set on the "Fastest" slider setting.

Fixed an issue where Slow Sticky Targeting affected radial targeting of players when Cone, Direct, and Area weapons are equipped.

Players can now use /c to enter clan chat.

Players can now use /cl to enter clan leader chat.

When entering Plateau a movie is no longer played.

maybe its just because I play it, but I get the feeling the Dev's focus the majority of class changes on the sniper class. Yes they have listened by removing the silly 'random' proc in the previous shredder change, but there seems to be some kind of innate blindness to the fact that the majority of combat is much closer than the ideal range of the sniper's rifle and the damage done by the rifle is not enough to be able to take down any creature with more than 'trash mob' health. This is why the shredder builds were so necessary, the damage done is still far far less than a spy can manage.

I could cope with needing the shredder chaingun build as a workaround, but now they're taking that away and not fixing what has been wrong with the sniper rifle since the health/regen change back in january. Its a shame really, on the patch server I can no longer solo the close-combat seen throughout abyss, or attempt to solo any instance thats lower level than me (as almost all instances tend to be close combat).

I'm hoping that before the patch goes live they make some more 'refinements' or I'm able to produce a viable character build, something I've never had to worry about before as I thought the game was relitively lenient with letting you choose anything you wanted really. If it goes 'cookie-cutter' with everyone having the same skills, I wont be too pleased.

Babs I personally wish they would just fix the snipers too so they can get onto what I think would be the worlds EASIEST fix.

Before I canceled I begged them to change the staff from ranged to close combat like the spies blade. I don't want the spies damage; nerf my damage I don't care just make my staff a close combat weapon. I hate the fact that I am almost forced into a shotgun/rocket launcher/chaingun build if I want to slaughter mobs.

Actually if you look at any of the soldier subclasses all of us are forced into chaingun but the spies. I am not sure why in the HELL they even worked on spies they are almost the most perfect class in the game. Okay they had minor AI problems but come on when more then 70% of your server is spies there has to be a reason.

What they need to do with snipers is take the torque shell rifle and look at the spies blade damage over a 10 to 30 sec time period and go ok what can we do to get this more in line with each other. Damage wise is all. Quit making USELESS changes to the classes.

So come on TR fix snipers and get on to the classes that need it. Give me a reason to return.

Let me stress my guardian is far far far from broken he certainly isn't an Exo. <---- Now that is broken.

I thought Critters said they are keeping the chaingun build as an option and not taking it away as you say Babs?

oh and I dont think you need to worry about it going cookie cutter form what I have heard from this new Lead Dev the plan is to make every build play differently and have a contrasting 'feel'

:D verbalising this morning obviously....

I do agree that the sniper has had what seems liek all the attention of late though, time to move on for sure

Oh but there's nothing wrong with us Snipers Babs. We are just the less-intelligent part of TR community. We are unable to experiment with builds, we are unable to use our abilities, we are unable to play the game in an effective manner, etc, etc.

That's why Mr Rideout was kind enough to tell us how we should play the game, and that we are wrong, because from his perspective, Snipers are totally fine. I guess he has the NCSoft Q1 2008 financial report to back up his words. (/rant mode off).

oh do behave, at least post something remotely constructive if you have to
Rogoo Comment by Rogoo on May 18, 2008 at 12:54pm
But posting constructive posts, sending constructive feedback etc, had absolutely no effect, so I don't care.

Havent seen you log in for a while Rogoo do you play anymore or just read planet TR instead?

Oh I played a bit, but much less after the 1.7 patch. My sub runs out in a week or so and I've decided I'll wait with re-sub (already bought the time card) until they clean this whole mess and introduce clan control points. As for now I just see no point in leveling up my main (and I'm not exactly an alt fan), so taking a little break will hopefully help :)
