Grand Theft Auto IV - Review by Redemerosha & Mozza
The game starts off with you playing as Niko Bellic, an immigrant from Eastern Europe with a bit of a mysterious past.
You get invited to come and stay in New York by your cousin ( Roman Bellic ) who has promised a better life but you soon come to realise he’s just a poor cab driver scraping by and is no better than you.
Your journey starts by doing missions for some very colourful characters. Basic layout is, get mission, go do it, come back for your reward. You soon start to unlock more characters and do missions but some of these missions have you making
a choice; Either kill person (a) or person (b). Whoever you choose will determine the outcome of the story.
There is a huge range of content in this game from Stunts to stealing cars for people or pigeon hunting. Their seems to be an endless list of websites in the game which you can visit via the internet cafe called tw@ and a even bigger selection of programmes on the TV to enjoy in the comfort of your own apartment.
The environments are amazing. Huge open gameplay, a couple dozen cars and a wide range of npc character that make the cities feel like a living city would.
Their is a nice selection of weapons to tear up the missions ranging from the basic pistol too a lovely ak-47 or your trusty rocket launcher to get the job done right!
The gameplay itself starts off pretty basic like most/ all of the GTA series do, noob friendly to those who haven’t played the game before, showing you how to do certain things such as using your weapon and stealing cars, after around half an hour or so you soon pick up on how easy it is to play and begin working on simple missions, getting harder as the game progresses.
This new instalment of the GTA series introduces a few new novelty things to do that keep you busy when you want to give doing the missions a bit of a rest., something they seem to have concentrated a lot more this time round, with the exploring you can do outside the main quests which makes the game not only more enjoyable but the lifespan of the game becomes longer i think.
With GTA4 we also have a new world to explore, multiplayer online. With most households having internet capability its no surprise that rockstar have taken advantage of this and given us the ability to play with or against our friends online.
Ok before i get into details about the online aspects, i want to talk about how you get into a multiplayer room. Remember that phone you have been using all through single player? Well if you go on it and scroll down you will see a multiplayer option.Click it and you on your way to some carnage.
GTA4 is 16 player onilne with 14 modes ranging from your typical Team Death Match to Cops and Crooks where one team is the cops and they have to take the other team out. If your not a fan of shooting and violence then their is even Racing games. All these modes you are able to play on the entire GTA4 world which is huge.
Mozza – Overall Opinion:
Having played all of the previous installements of GTA I was a bit worried in what to expect, was it going to be the same old structure? Nothing new besides a different storyline? If im being totally honest I wasn’t going to bother buying it until I opened my eyes to all of the hype over it. Thankfully though this new installement of the GTA series is just as much, if not more so entertaining that the last one, brilliant graphics and attention to detail to compliment the next gen consoles, showing just what there capable of. The additional side quests and usual storyline definitely make for a long lasting game to play for both its off and online features.
Redemerosha - Overall Opinion:
I have played all the other GTA series but their was never anything that caught my eyes and made me want to keep playing it but this new installment has a great story,funny characters and atleast 20hours gameplay (which is huge compaired to todays games) makes this game worth buying. On top of all this their is a multiplayer which in its self is worth buying the game for. I will be honest in saying that i would have loved for their to be more of a rpg element to the game like more clothes shops and houses to buy but their is soo much other stuff i can let this slip.
Would also like to mention that these reviews are done for my clan and i do get friends who chip in with this. If you wanna check our site out vistit and sign up to the forums. Currently all in developement but will look great soon.
